Renk Draws Two Buy Calls and Two Lower Targets Into Its November Reckoning
Published on 10/27/2026 at 03:50 | Editorial boerse-global.deRenk Group heads toward its third-quarter report with its investment case split down the middle: the sell side still likes the stock, but the price of that affection is falling. On Friday, DZ Bank cut its fair value for the Augsburg-based gearbox maker from 64 to 56 euros while keeping its buy recommendation intact. Both that target and the other house's view sit well above the current share price, leaving room for upside if execution holds.
The stock traded at 36.80 euros on Monday, up 2.0 percent on the day, yet still down 32 percent since the start of the year. That gap between analyst targets and the market price frames the central question facing investors: how much earnings power actually remains in the rump business after the portfolio has been redrawn.
A bearings exit that resets the base
Last Thursday, Renk agreed to sell its plain bearings division to Miba AG. According to dpa, the purchase price falls in the low-to-mid three-digit million euro range. From the fourth quarter, the unit will be reported as a discontinued operation.
That accounting shift matters more than any single quarter's numbers. The sale strips out a predictable slice of revenue while, management hopes, freeing up capital for the priority activities. What investors must now judge is whether the remaining segments can carry the profitability targets without added friction.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Renk Group?
The revised guidance for full-year 2026, on a continuing-operations basis, calls for revenue of around 1.4 billion euros and adjusted EBIT of 240 million to 255 million euros. The transaction itself remains subject to antitrust clearance.
What the pre-close call actually said
Renk's own commentary offers a separate reference point. On October 21, the company said the first nine months of 2026 had tracked to plan and in line with its annual forecast, with management still targeting the upper half of the adjusted EBIT range.
That statement predated the narrowing of the guidance scope. The distinction is easy to blur but essential: the pre-close assessment applied to the forecast framework as it stood at the time, not to a business that had already been redefined. Reading the adjusted perimeter as evidence of operational deterioration would be a mistake.
Institutional stakes drift lower
Ownership disclosures added another layer last week. UBS reported a total voting rights share of 4.71 percent on Friday, down from 5.06 percent previously, with the bulk of that 4.34 percent held through financial instruments. BlackRock, meanwhile, disclosed on October 21 a decline from 4.13 percent to 4.05 percent.
Both filings document smaller positions, and nothing more. They carry no explanation of motive and say nothing about the operating outlook. Treating them as verdicts on the business would overread a regulatory form.
The bull case and what could break it
If Renk can defend its targeted margin in the core business, a recovery path opens up. A focused supplier of defense applications and demanding drivetrain technology could command a valuation premium over diversified conglomerates. The reduced-but-still-elevated analyst targets suggest that thesis retains support.
The risks are equally concrete. Supply chains could seize up during the internal restructuring, or the handover of the divested unit could slip, weighing on fourth-quarter margins. Missing the bottom end of the 240 million euro adjusted EBIT range would dent market confidence noticeably.

Then there is the defense sector's own rhythm. With plain bearings gone, the group's fortunes hinge more heavily on timely execution of military procurement programs. Any customer-driven delivery delays would land on the remaining business undiluted — and in that scenario, even the trimmed analyst targets could come under pressure.
November 5 as the arbiter
Near-term direction now depends on confirmation of operating trends. As long as the shares hold their recent interim low and the adjusted full-year guidance stays intact, the odds favor consolidation after the losses of previous months. A collapse in confidence over the adjusted EBIT range, by contrast, would risk a slide back toward the year's lows.
The next hard catalyst is already circled: on November 5, 2026, Renk publishes its third-quarter 2026 results. That interim report will be the first reliable evidence of how sturdy the continuing operations are before the final separation — and the first real test of whether the analysts' faith, however discounted, was warranted.
