Renk Heads Into November With a Smaller Core, a Naval Pitch and One Sell-Side Caveat

Renk has spent the past week redrawing the boundary of what it actually reports on. The binding agreement to sell its plain-bearing business to Miba, signed roughly a week ago and still subject to customary regulatory approvals, will see the unit booked as a discontinued operation from the fourth quarter of 2026. Until closing, the deal remains an agreement rather than a completed transaction — a distinction that matters when reading the guidance that sits on top of it.

The reshaped perimeter is why the adjusted full-year 2026 outlook should be taken on its own terms. Renk is guiding to revenue of around EUR 1.4bn and adjusted EBIT of EUR 240–255m for the continuing business. Comparing those figures with earlier expectations without accounting for the carve-out would say little about underlying momentum, and the structure change on its own is no proof of an operating acceleration.

Miba's own disclosure puts the scale of the divestment in plain terms: about 500 employees across five manufacturing sites and roughly EUR 130m in annual revenue. That magnitude explains why the line between continuing and discontinued activities has become central to how the group's performance is judged.

Naval Work Gives the Story Its Concrete Edge

Alongside the restructuring, Renk is pushing deeper into maritime applications. The company plans to show its naval portfolio for the first time at Euronaval in Paris, with propulsion solutions for unmanned surface vessels and an expanded underwater drive offering at the centre of the display.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Renk Group?

Two previously reported orders give that ambition something tangible to stand on. Renk Magnet-Motor won a contract from Saab for three Stirling power generation systems destined for a submarine programme run by a NATO member state. A separate propulsion package has also been booked for an unmanned surface vessel programme, again for a NATO country. The two awards cover different technical ground — power supply for submarines on one side, integrated drives for unmanned surface craft on the other — and together they anchor the maritime strategy in named projects rather than slideware.

What they do not do is translate directly into a higher earnings forecast. The orders demonstrate business in the underwater segment; they carry no quantified contribution to the annual guidance.

A Buy Rating Paired With Cautious Assumptions

The sell-side view adds a second lens. JPMorgan analyst David H. Perry pointed to a slower ramp-up of German armoured vehicle programmes and weaker prospects for the industrial business. The house nonetheless reaffirmed its overweight recommendation, pairing a positive stance on the stock with more guarded expectations for operating performance.

That combination frames the next checkpoint. Renk publishes its quarterly statement for the first nine months of 2026 on 5 November and will hold a conference call the same day. The Euronaval showcase runs from 3 to 6 November, so the two events land almost simultaneously but answer different questions: the trade fair puts the product range and strategic ambitions on display, while the financial report is where the operating trajectory can actually be measured.

For investors, the decisive test is how reported results, the rebased guidance and the new group perimeter fit together. Fresh orders and portfolio decisions supply the context — they do not substitute for the earnings arithmetic of the continuing business.
