Renk Holds Its Buy Ratings as the Bearings Sale Redraws the Comparison
Published on 10/23/2026 at 19:01 | Editorial boerse-global.deRenk Group enters its third-quarter reporting season with a split-screen story: analysts are sticking with their buy calls, but the price targets attached to them are drifting lower. The distinction matters. A reiterated recommendation speaks to how attractive a house finds the equity; a trimmed fair value speaks to how much it is willing to pay for it. The two do not have to move in lockstep.
DZ Bank provided the clearest illustration on Thursday, cutting its fair value on the stock from EUR 64 to EUR 56 while keeping its rating at "Buy." Barclays had done much the same a day earlier, shaving its target from EUR 60 to EUR 57 and holding at "Overweight." In both cases, the investment case survived intact even as the valuation framework grew more conservative.
MPCM took the opposite tack on the target, leaving its price objective untouched at EUR 63 and reaffirming its "Buy" recommendation. Analyst Christian Cohrs is looking for solid overall figures from the defence and propulsion specialist, with his attention fixed on the operating business now that the strategic overhaul and the revised annual guidance have dominated the debate. The stock nonetheless slipped 2.2% on the day, a reminder that a positive analyst stance is not the same thing as a positive tape.
A Forecast That Only Covers What Remains
The single most important detail for reading Renk's numbers right now is the scope of its guidance. The company updated its outlook for fiscal 2026 to roughly EUR 1.4 billion in revenue, with adjusted EBIT of EUR 240 million to EUR 255 million. That forecast applies explicitly to continuing operations and should not be read in isolation from the agreed disposal of the plain bearings business.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Renk Group?
Renk GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary, signed a binding sale agreement with Miba AG on Wednesday. The purchase price sits in the lower-to-middle three-digit million euro range, and completion remains subject to antitrust and regulatory clearance. A signed contract is not a closed deal, so the operating outlook and the status of the transaction stay separate items on the checklist.
The accounting treatment adds another layer. From the fourth quarter of 2026, Renk will report the plain bearings unit as a discontinued operation under IFRS 5. That classification is a distinct matter from the pending antitrust approval, and investors need to keep the two apart when they line up the next set of figures.
The Bar Is Being Reset, Not Just Redrawn
According to dpa-AFX, investors have been chewing over more than the portfolio reshuffle. A modest operational reduction in the guidance also featured in the discussion, which means the revision is not fully explained by stripping out the bearings division. Both the new reporting basis and the underlying operating trend will matter when the numbers land.
Renk has scheduled its nine-month figures for November 5, 2026. Until then, the bullish analyst views remain expectations rather than evidence of how the business actually performed. Two layers deserve separate scrutiny: operating performance on one side, and the changed perimeter of the group on the other. A business sale alters which activities sit inside the continuing figures, so a favourable recommendation is no substitute for checking the reported results against the revised outlook.

A Gearbox Order With a Long Tail
The order picture offers a longer-range reference point. Just over a week ago, Renk agreed an expansion with KNDS Deutschland worth around EUR 130 million, covering gearboxes and further components for Leopard 2 vehicles. Deliveries are due to begin in 2029 and run through 2032.
That contract gives the equity a multi-year anchor, though it says nothing about near-term earnings momentum. The line to hold onto is this: the buy ratings stand, the valuation targets have come down, and the bearings sale has yet to clear its final hurdles.
