Renk's Miba Exit Redraws the 2026 Base — and Wall Street Is Still Split on What Comes Next

Renk agreed to sell its plain bearings division to Miba and reset 2026 guidance for continuing operations; JPMorgan and DZ Bank trimmed targets but kept positive ratings.

Renk has handed investors a puzzle with two separate pieces. On Thursday the defence contractor agreed to sell its plain bearings division to Miba AG, a move it framed as a sharper focus on its core defence business. The purchase price was not disclosed, and completion hinges on the usual regulatory approvals. Alongside the deal, Renk reset its 2026 guidance — but only for the businesses it is keeping.

That distinction matters more than the headline numbers. For the continuing operations, Renk now expects roughly EUR 1.4 billion in revenue for fiscal 2026, with adjusted EBIT of between EUR 240 million and EUR 255 million. The previous targets, both for the same year, had called for more than EUR 1.5 billion in sales and adjusted EBIT at the top end of a EUR 255 million to EUR 285 million range.

Reading the cut as a straightforward deterioration in trading would therefore miss the point: the basis of the forecast has changed along with its size. Yet the refocusing does not, by itself, answer how quickly the remaining activities can grow — and that is where the analyst community has parted ways.

Two Analysts, Two Different Worries

JPMorgan trimmed its price target to EUR 50 from EUR 62 on Wednesday while keeping its "Overweight" rating. Analyst David H. Perry pointed to a slower ramp-up of German armoured vehicle programmes and a gloomier outlook for Renk's industrial business. His reasoning reaches beyond the redrawn group perimeter and speaks directly to the pace of the remaining operations — a separate risk from the bearings exit. A tighter corporate footprint, in other words, does not automatically clear hurdles in individual programme rollouts.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Renk Group?

The DZ Bank took a different route on Friday, cutting its fair value to EUR 56 from EUR 64 while leaving its "Buy" recommendation in place. Its study centred on the plain bearings sale and the sharper defence alignment.

Both houses, then, paired lower valuation yardsticks with ratings that remain positive. That is not an all-clear signal; it is a blend of more cautious pricing and a fundamentally constructive view of the investment case.

What the Share Price Is and Isn't Saying

Renk shares slipped 2.3% on Friday. That move should be kept apart from the sector-wide weakness reported earlier in the week — dpa-AFX had flagged profit-taking across defence names on Monday. The distinction is a useful one: share price action, deal status and operating delivery are three different measures, and only the last of them can be sharpened by the figures now on the calendar.

Nor does the agreement offer a number to plug into a valuation. With no purchase price disclosed, there is no quantifiable proceeds figure to work with, and the transaction cannot yet be treated as closed.

Renk Group at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

November 5 Is the Next Real Test

Renk publishes its nine-month report for 2026 on November 5, with a conference call scheduled in Augsburg. That release gives investors the next official occasion to set actual trading against the revised full-year outlook — and the continuing operations are what count.

The key question for the stock is not simply the lower guidance. It is how the prospects for what remains stack up against the growth risks Perry has identified. Until the November update lands, the two halves of the Renk story — a leaner group and an uncertain ramp — will keep running on separate tracks.
