Renk's Order Momentum Meets a Lower Bar: Why the Miba Sale Changes the Math, Not the Ratings
Published on 10/26/2026 at 16:41 | Editorial boerse-global.deRenk Group is asking investors to hold two ideas at once. Fresh gearbox contracts keep arriving, yet the company's own guidance has come down — and a pair of analyst moves this week suggest the market is treating the second fact as the more important one.
The stock's Friday session reflected that tension. Shares fell 2.3% on the day, a move that followed Thursday's disclosure of a revised outlook for the continuing business and the agreed sale of the plain bearings unit to Miba. The Financial Times described both developments as weighing on the shares. No purchase price for the Miba transaction was disclosed, and the deal — while agreed — is not yet completed, a distinction that matters when sizing up what the company will actually look like once the carve-out closes.
Orders Keep Coming, but They Don't Settle the Earnings Question
Against that backdrop, Renk has continued to book business. Media reports on 14 October flagged an expansion of the company's contract with KNDS Deutschland covering gearboxes for the Leopard 2, with the additional volume put at roughly EUR 130 million. Earlier, on 6 October, Patria reportedly placed a further order for gearboxes for the TRACKX vehicle family worth EUR 30 million.
Those bookings give the equity a concrete demand story rather than a purely speculative one tied to future vehicle programmes. What they do not do is answer the question of how quickly that demand converts into reported profit. Order intake and full-year earnings are separate measures, and the gap between them is precisely where the recent analyst revisions have landed.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Renk Group?
Two Houses Trim Their Marks, Neither Abandons the Call
JPMorgan cut its price target to EUR 50 from EUR 62 on Wednesday while keeping an Overweight rating. The bank pointed to a slower ramp-up in German armoured vehicle programmes and a dimmer outlook for Renk's industrial business — a verdict that puts execution speed, not order flow, at the centre of the case.
The DZ Bank followed on Friday, lowering its fair value to EUR 56 from EUR 64 and maintaining a Buy recommendation. Both houses pulled back their valuation benchmarks without giving up their fundamentally positive stance. A lower target alongside an unchanged rating is not a contradiction; it separates the expected upside from the underlying investment view.
Barclays made a similar adjustment on Thursday, reducing its target to EUR 57 from EUR 60 while also staying at Overweight.
The Ownership Filing That Isn't a Sell Signal
Separately, UBS reported a total stake of 4.71% on Friday, down from 5.06% previously. The composition is the part that deserves attention: voting rights from shares accounted for just 0.37%, with instruments making up the remaining 4.34%. The bulk of the reported position, in other words, was never share-based voting stock.
Reading the decline as a straightforward share sale goes beyond what the disclosure actually says — and it says nothing on its own about the operating business. The distinction sounds technical, but it is central to interpreting a stake notification. A position report describes ownership; a daily price move describes trading. The two together still don't add up to a reliable explanation.
Renk Group at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
What Investors Should Actually Watch
The more consequential backdrop sits inside the company. Thursday's guidance adjustment for the continuing operations shifts the base against which future performance will be measured — and a stake filing cannot tell you how well that reshaped business will perform.
For 2026, post-Miba, Renk expects revenue of around EUR 1.4 billion. Adjusted EBIT is guided to a range of EUR 240 million to EUR 255 million.
That is the yardstick. The orders support the demand picture; they do not substitute for proof on the earnings line. The cautious full-year outlook remains the measure by which the operational story will be judged — and no change in a shareholder register alters that arithmetic.
