Rheinmetall Doubles Credit Facility as Broker Targets Slip Before Capital Markets Day
Published on 10/28/2026 at 08:51 | Editorial boerse-global.deRheinmetall has moved early to refresh its syndicated credit line, doubling the revolving facility to EUR 1.5 billion from EUR 750 million. The precautionary boost to liquidity lands just weeks before the defence group opens its doors to investors in Hamburg, where management will be under pressure to defend its long-range ambitions.
The capital markets day, scheduled for 26–27 November, has become the focal point for a debate over expectations. UBS analyst Sven Weier urged restraint on 20 October, cutting his price target to EUR 1,360 from EUR 1,600 while keeping a Buy rating. His argument: overly ambitious guidance risks a fresh round of disappointment. Deutsche Bank Research followed on the same front, trimming its objective to EUR 1,650 from EUR 1,800 and maintaining its Buy recommendation.
Analyst Christoph Laskawi framed the setup as an expectations dilemma. Investors are already braced for lower 2030 targets, yet a meaningful cut could weigh on earnings forecasts. Looming over that calculation is uncertainty about order intake — the bookings needed to underpin any growth story management puts forward.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Rheinmetall?
Mangalia Yard Adds Naval Capacity
On the operational side, Rheinmetall and Swiss shipping group MSC secured the Romanian Mangalia shipyard at auction on 19 October, with a joint purchase price of roughly EUR 138 million. The site is earmarked for both civilian and military shipbuilding. Rheinmetall's Naval Systems division expects the yard to play a substantial role in constructing four naval vessels ordered by the Romanian government. The company said at the time of the announcement that the acquisition should close within the following weeks.
Skyranger Delays Ripple Through Procurement
The industrial backdrop is not without friction. Delays to Rheinmetall's Skyranger anti-aircraft tank are feeding into Bundeswehr procurement planning, according to a Handelsblatt report on 22 October. Berlin is looking to bridge the gap with 48 GARMR drone-defence systems from Diehl as an interim solution, with a further order planned from start-up Tytan.
Before any of that reaches the capital markets day, Rheinmetall publishes its third-quarter 2026 statement on 5 November, covering the period from 1 January to 30 September 2026.
