Rheinmetall's Order Pipeline Splits in Two: Schakal Signed, Arminius Still Pending
Published on 10/29/2026 at 21:10 | Editorial boerse-global.deRheinmetall shares drew fresh attention on two fronts Tuesday, as a confirmed armoured-vehicle order from OCCAR coincided with Citi reiterating its buy rating and EUR 1,408 price target on the German defence group. The stock rose 3.7% on the news.
The contract, placed with Artec — the joint venture between Rheinmetall and KNDS Deutschland — covers 69 additional Schakal wheeled infantry fighting vehicles. Thirty-five are destined for the Bundeswehr and 34 for the Dutch armed forces. Rheinmetall values its own share of the deal in the mid-three-digit million-euro range, a figure that reflects the company's stake rather than the JV's total order value.
Delivery is scheduled to run from May 2032 through November 2033, a timeline that underscores the long-dated nature of the demand signal. The order reinforces the medium-term outlook rather than promising any near-term revenue bump — which is precisely why Citi's caveat about execution capacity and supply chains carries weight.
Arminius: Committee Vote, Then Award
Citi's thesis rests on more than the Schakal win. The broker is looking ahead to the larger Arminius order, which it stresses remains an expectation rather than a booked contract. Analysts anticipate committee approval on 9 December, with the formal award expected at the end of December or possibly in January.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Rheinmetall?
That distinction matters for investors. A favourable committee vote is not the same as a signed contract, and the analysts explicitly include the later award window in their scenario. Anyone treating Arminius as already secured would be getting ahead of the assessment.
Shipyard Deal and UK Gun Production
Beyond the order book, Rheinmetall has been busy on the industrial side. On 19 October, the company and Swiss shipping group MSC jointly won the auction for Romania's Mangalia shipyard, with a combined purchase price of around EUR 138 million. The yard is expected to take part in building four Romanian naval vessels, among other work.
Roughly a week earlier, Rheinmetall opened its "UK Gun Hall" in Telford, bringing independent large-calibre weapons manufacturing back to Britain. At full capacity, the facility is designed to turn out up to 245 barrels and more than 50 breech mechanisms annually, supporting over 100 skilled jobs.
Broker Views Diverge
On the analyst side, UBS cut its price target to EUR 1,360 from EUR 1,600 on 20 October while keeping its buy recommendation — a lower ceiling than Citi's EUR 1,408, though both houses remain positive on the stock.
Rheinmetall at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
The next confirmed date on the calendar is 5 November 2026, when Rheinmetall publishes its third-quarter report. Those figures will add an operating dimension to a picture currently dominated by order flow.
The takeaway for investors is a clear split: Schakal is signed, Arminius is anticipated. Citi's bullish call spans both, without glossing over the execution risks in between. Order size alone won't be the measure — binding awards and the ability to deliver on them will be.
