SAP has thrown open its Max Success Plan to customers worldwide, confirming that the offering is available not only through direct engagement with the software maker but also through partner-led relationships. The Walldorf-based company used the same announcement cycle to unveil fresh capabilities for Joule Studio, Joule Work and its Business AI Platform, disclosed at SAP TechEd.

The distinction between the two types of news matters. The Max Success Plan communication confirms general availability. The AI tooling, by contrast, was merely announced — and an announcement is not the same as a global release. Those developer-focused enhancements build on AI innovations SAP had already presented at TechEd on 28 October, underscoring that the company's messaging is centered less on individual AI models than on the instruments that put them to work.

A Buy Call Lands, but the Tape Shrugs

Friday brought a lift from the sell side: Erste Group upgraded SAP to "Buy," adding analyst backing roughly two weeks after the quarterly figures landed. The market's response has been less convincing. According to media reports, the stock surrendered the gains it had initially notched following the earnings release — a reminder that favorable ratings and a durable recovery in the share price are two different things.

The Erste Group move trails another bullish action. Goldman Sachs raised its price target on 23 October from EUR 230 to EUR 258 while reiterating its buy recommendation, as reported by dpa-AFX. Both steps signal confidence at those houses, yet neither tells investors when operating progress will actually show up in the quote. The faded post-earnings rally illustrates the point: good corporate news does not automatically translate into sustained demand for the stock.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying SAP?

Cloud Momentum Underpins the Optimism

What the analysts are responding to is a business that keeps expanding. For the third quarter of 2026, SAP reported cloud revenue up 26%, with total revenue ahead 13% to EUR 10.27 billion. Per media reports, both cloud revenue and cloud backlog beat expectations. A further tailwind came from SAP narrowing its cloud revenue target to the upper end of its guidance range, which fed the initial share-price reaction.

The company also raised its outlook for cloud and for cloud plus software combined. That provides the economic backdrop for the product news — though it does not by itself prove any separate contribution from the Max Success Plan. Investors should keep the two threads apart: worldwide availability is confirmed, but what additional business effect the program generates cannot be inferred from the release alone.

NTT Tie-Up Remains a Statement of Intent

Another building block is the planned collaboration with NTT. On 28 October the two companies declared their intention to work together on SAP Sovereign Cloud and SAP Business AI. The first area earmarked is the linkage of SAP Sovereign Cloud On-Site with infrastructure and operations managed by NTT. No financial terms were disclosed. The arrangement is aimed particularly at regulated industries, adding a concrete project for customers with stringent requirements on their IT environments.

SAP at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

For investors, the classification is clear: this is a cooperation intent, not a completed expansion or a quantified revenue stream. Whether it produces a measurable business boost will only emerge in execution, and the announcement alone does not substitute for further evidence in the numbers.

What to Watch Next

Optimism on the analyst side now meets operational progress — against a share price that has yet to hold its ground. The pivotal question for investors is whether SAP can extend its cloud growth and convert the announced offerings into actual business. The next quarterly report is scheduled for 29 January 2027.
