SFC Energy Balances Strong Nine-Month Results Against Costlier Year-End
Published on 11/01/2026 at 16:21 | Editorial boerse-global.deSFC Energy has raised its full-year earnings guidance on the back of a striking nine-month performance, yet the fuel-cell specialist is simultaneously flagging a heavier cost load for the closing quarter — a combination that left investors cautious rather than celebratory.
Shares in the company ended Friday's session down 3.1%, according to dpa-AFX, reversing an initial positive reaction to the previous day's guidance upgrade.
Earnings growth outpaces revenue
Preliminary figures for the first nine months of 2026, released Thursday, show adjusted EBITDA of EUR 33.7 million, more than triple the EUR 10.8 million booked a year earlier. Adjusted EBIT came in at EUR 25.7 million, compared with EUR 5.0 million in the same period of 2025.
Group revenue climbed to EUR 132.8 million from EUR 102.7 million, meaning both adjusted profit lines expanded considerably faster than sales. Management credited the widened defence business — above all in Ukraine — along with a favourable product mix and lower logistics and handling costs on the Ukraine order.

Guidance lifted, sales forecast held
The upgraded outlook, announced Thursday, now targets full-year adjusted EBITDA of EUR 36.0 million to EUR 38.0 million and adjusted EBIT of EUR 25.5 million to EUR 27.5 million. Revenue guidance was left untouched at EUR 166.0 million to EUR 175.0 million.
For the fourth quarter, however, SFC expects a smaller earnings contribution. With the first Ukraine programme now delivered, the product mix should shift back toward civilian applications, while spending on ERP and the Ukrainian build-out rises.
Gulf partnership takes shape
Separately, SFC and EDGE signed a strategic cooperation agreement on Tuesday covering the development, validation and commercialisation of power supply solutions for defence, public safety and critical infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates. Initial demonstration systems are already under development, and the partners are examining local manufacturing, integration and maintenance.
