Siemens Healthineers is redrawing the boundaries of its medical-technology portfolio on several fronts at once, pairing a push into uncharted clinical territory with a retreat from commodity hardware. The German group unveiled a strategic partnership with US-based Paradromics on Monday, confirming earlier reporting by Handelsblatt, aimed at building a shared imaging platform for brain implants.

The system is designed to span the full clinical pathway — from initial patient selection through precise placement of the implant to post-procedural assessment of the intervention. It marks a step into a field where imaging precision is tightly coupled to therapeutic outcomes.

Magnets, and a British Manufacturing Bet

Capacity for diagnostics is expanding in parallel. A new site will produce superconducting magnets for magnetic resonance tomographs and, by the company's own account, support more than 1,300 jobs.

Both initiatives slot into a broader repositioning of the equipment portfolio, which will now center on interventional imaging and image-guided therapies. The retreat from general-purpose ultrasound, announced on October 12, follows the same logic: worldwide sales of the Acuson Sequoia, Redwood, Juniper and Maple lines have been discontinued. That division will henceforth concentrate on cardiovascular applications, interventional imaging, intracardiac echocardiography, and software and artificial intelligence. Maintenance and service for existing customer systems continue unchanged.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens Healthineers?

RBC Lifts Target on Accela, ODDO Trims

Analysts have greeted the tilt toward highly specialized therapeutic solutions with approval. RBC raised its price target to EUR 48 from EUR 45 on October 16 while reaffirming its "Outperform" rating; analyst Natalia Webster pointed to the market potential of the new Accela radiotherapy system, built on the NeoArc platform, as the driver. The launch, she argued, showcases the company's core clinical strengths and underlines the upside for the medtech group.

Other houses see room for further gains, albeit with slightly adjusted expectations. ODDO BHF trimmed its target to EUR 45 from EUR 47 on October 12, keeping its "Outperform" rating intact.

Share Price Firm as Buyback Passes 3.47 Million

The stock has held its ground. It closed Friday's session at EUR 41.03, putting it 7.8% above its 200-day average of EUR 38.07; at its current level of EUR 41.01 it trades 5.3% above its 50-day average of EUR 38.93.

Underpinning the business developments is the ongoing repurchase program. Between October 5 and October 11, Siemens Healthineers bought back 50,000 of its own shares, bringing the total acquired since the start of June to 3,474,346. Whether the strategic moves are already visible in the figures will become clear with the next set of business results, due on November 5.
