Ubtech Robotics Unveils AI News Anchors Crafted by Zhang Yimou, Alongside Korea Debut and Simulation Platform
Published on 11/07/2026 at 16:42 | Editorial boerse-global.deUbtech Robotics packed a week of announcements into five days, capped by the Thursday unveiling of two humanoid news presenters developed with the state news agency Xinhua. The life-sized robots, named Xinyan and Xinyu, are billed in media reports as the world's first bionic humanoid robots designed to anchor news broadcasts. The presentation took place at a forum in Beijing during the World Media Summit, where the partners demonstrated a fusion of Ubtech's hardware and Xinhua's artificial intelligence system.
Zhang Yimou Takes the Visual Reins
The creative direction behind the robots' appearance was handled by filmmaker Zhang Yimou, giving the collaboration a dual mandate: Xinhua's "Xinhua Yudian" database supplies the content the robots use for news presentation, while Zhang oversees their visual design. Investors greeted the news mildly — Ubtech shares added 1.7% in the prior session.
U1 Pro Makes Its Korean Bow
Two days before the Beijing forum, Ubtech showcased its U1 Pro companion humanoid at Robo World 2026 in South Korea. Local partner Polaris AI said Korean-language conversation could be added as early as December, though the company stopped short of a firm commitment to that timeline, framing it as a possible expansion rather than a pledge.

Thinker-Sim Targets Embodied AI Training
Kicking off the week on Monday, Ubtech launched Thinker-Sim, a simulation platform for embodied artificial intelligence. The system digitizes real-world scenes, generates synthetic training data, and evaluates robot capabilities — linking environmental mapping, data creation, and performance assessment in a single pipeline.
Research Prize Points to Industrial Test Beds
Rounding out the sequence, Wednesday reports highlighted a first prize at the Guangdong Science and Technology Progress Awards for 2025, awarded to a joint project involving Ubtech. The work centers on how robots perceive and make decisions together in complex, dynamic environments. Named as potential trial applications were inspections inside nuclear power plants, intelligent warehousing and logistics, and smart manufacturing — test scenarios for the honored project rather than deployed products.
