XPeng's Dubai Debut and Open-Source AI Bet Converge on One Date: November 16
Published on 11/08/2026 at 15:12 | Editorial boerse-global.deXPeng shares climbed 7.2% on Friday to close at €9.19, catching the tailwind of a sector-wide recovery in electric-vehicle stocks. According to media reports, the rebound followed the selloff that came in the wake of the US midterm elections, and no company-specific news drove the move. Nio, Tesla and Lucid joined the advance, with coverage framing the session as part of a broader comeback in growth equities.
The Dubai stage, however, had already been set earlier in the week. On Tuesday, at a brand event in the emirate, XPeng unveiled its GX and G9L SUV models and laid out plans to deepen its presence across the Middle East and Africa. Each model will be rolled out in eleven countries, according to the company, and the presentation doubled as a showcase for XPeng's ecosystem for physical artificial intelligence.
Overseas Sales Carry the Load
Those expansion ambitions rest on a delivery base that is already delivering hard numbers. XPeng shipped a monthly record of 50,237 vehicles in October, up 22% from September and 20% above the same month a year earlier. Deliveries outside its home market hit an all-time monthly high of 13,326 units — a 166% jump year on year.
That international surge gives the Middle East and Africa push a tangible track record to build on, and it sets a demanding bar for the months ahead. Repeatability, rather than a single record month, is what will decide whether the expansion story holds.

A Research Credential, With Caveats
Technology is the second pillar XPeng is asking investors to weigh. On Wednesday, working with academic partners, the company presented GroundingPI, an open-source model for visual perception. In its research team's evaluation, the model posted an average score of 73.68 across 34 benchmark tests, against a comparison figure of 71.54 cited for GPT-6 Astra.
XPeng itself limits the significance of the study to research findings; integration or deployment in commercial products has not been demonstrated. GroundingPI is therefore best treated as a technological option whose economic weight could grow alongside verifiable applications — an argument for patience and for watching how the project develops.
The robotaxi program sits at a different stage of maturity. On October 26, XPeng secured approval for citywide demonstration rides at Level 4 autonomy in Guangzhou, with initial public access to be opened gradually by invitation. A permit creates room to operate; its value will grow with convincing execution.
XPeng at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
The Financials Take Center Stage
All of these threads — the Dubai launch, the open-source research, the robotaxi pilot and the October delivery record — now converge on a single appointment. XPeng will publish its unaudited third-quarter 2026 results on November 16, before US markets open, with a conference call scheduled for 7:00 a.m. ET the same day.
Vehicle deliveries are already on the books. What remains is the economic picture: whether the higher sales volume is financially sustainable, and whether research and expansion plans translate into viable business results. The operational opportunities look promising, provided the upcoming figures back the growth trajectory with hard economics. Until then, the delivery business remains the valuation anchor, and the technology is the upside.
