XPeng's October Delivery Record Masks a Year Still Running Behind
Published on 11/01/2026 at 14:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deXPeng shipped 50,237 vehicles in October 2026, a monthly record for the company and a 22% increase over September, according to a corporate statement. Year-on-year, total deliveries rose 20%. The headline number lands alongside a less comfortable figure: cumulative deliveries for January through October reached 334,604 units, down 5.8% on the same period a year earlier.
That gap frames the debate for investors. A single record month signals acceleration but does not by itself reverse a weaker start to the year. Sustaining the higher run rate through the coming months is what would give the October figure real weight.
Overseas Volume Does the Heavy Lifting
International deliveries hit their own monthly record at 13,326 vehicles, up 166% year-on-year and equal to 26.53% of October's total. China accounted for 36,911 handovers. The expansion abroad is no longer a side story — it supplied a substantial share of the recent pickup, meaning the record does not rest on the home market alone.
Even so, the board's ambitions run higher. Media reports put the chief executive's target for the fourth quarter of 2026 at more than 60,000 deliveries in a single month. October's tally remains below that mark — progress toward the goal, not attainment of it.

A New Model Enters the Fray
Fresh volume is expected from the MONA L05, an SUV XPeng launched in mainland China on Thursday. Deliveries there are due to begin today, per company guidance. The model is offered both as a pure battery-electric vehicle and with a range extender, giving the line two powertrain options from the outset.
XPeng began worldwide shipments of the L05 on 26 October and intends to sell it in 65 countries and regions. Those milestones describe distinct stages: shipping has started, but that is not the same as a completed rollout across every planned market, and the delivery start remains a company announcement rather than a confirmed handover figure.
The distribution network is widening in parallel. On Tuesday, XPeng said via WeChat that it had signed agreements with local partners in Nigeria, Oman, Kuwait and Albania — additions to its international sales footprint, though the company did not tie any of them specifically to the L05.
An Established Benchmark, and Projects on Their Own Clocks
For a sense of what a successful ramp can look like, XPeng pointed to the GX: cumulative deliveries of that model passed 30,000 units as of 22 October, roughly five months after launch. The comparison has limits. The GX figure reflects vehicles already handed to customers, while the L05 is still at the shipment-and-announcement stage, so it cannot be read as a sales forecast for the new SUV.
XPeng at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Beyond vehicle sales, the company is pursuing ventures on separate timelines. On 26 October it secured approval for Level-4 robotaxi demonstration rides across the entire city of Guangzhou, with access to be opened gradually via invitation codes. Separately, vice president Gu Jie said Wednesday that the solid-state battery developed for the IRON humanoid robot had entered small-series production, according to media reports; XPeng plans mass production of the robot by the end of 2026 and deployment from 2027.
Those efforts broaden the operational agenda, but the immediate test is the announced start of L05 deliveries in China — the point at which the latest model launch turns into an actual sales phase. For investors, the yardstick is twofold: whether overseas momentum holds, and whether the new model helps XPeng close the shortfall built up over the year to date.
