XRP ETF Inflows Buck the Selloff as Ledger Fixes and a Binance Breach Pull in Opposite Directions
Published on 10/31/2026 at 04:01 | Editorial boerse-global.deSpot XRP exchange-traded funds in the United States logged net inflows on Thursday, even as a broad crypto rout swept the market — a detail that undercuts the idea that investors were pulling money out of these products and driving the token lower. The pressure, according to the reporting, came from elsewhere: a security incident at Binance that weighed on digital assets across the board.
Franklin Templeton's XRPZ drew the largest share of the day's money, with Bitwise's XRP fund taking in $2.9 million, according to figures published Friday. Those two vehicles accounted for the reported inflows. For investors, the split between fund demand and spot price action matters: ETF inflows can coexist with falling token prices. They demonstrate appetite through one particular gateway to the market, but they don't account for every XRP purchase or sale. Nor do the daily tallies point to a steady drain over multiple sessions — the individual results have simply been uneven.
A $6.3 Billion Breach Sets the Tone
Weighing against those positive fund flows was a major security failure. Attackers reportedly made off with roughly $6.3 billion in crypto assets from Binance, and blockchain analytics firm Elliptic said 233 million XRP moved from Binance wallets to an address controlled by the attackers. The episode triggered a wide selloff and forced position liquidations. That market-wide context is essential for reading XRP: the damage wasn't confined to this token, and the fund inflows did nothing to stop the selling. At a current price of $1.25, XRP sits between the pull of product-level demand and the fallout from the breach — and the ETF data alone offers no evidence of a broader market stabilization.
Four Fixes Proposed, None Live Yet
On the technology side, developers proposed four corrections today aimed at closing exceptions that let restricted tokens reach unauthorized accounts. The package, fixCleanup3_5_0, has not been merged into the code and is not active on the mainnet; only validator approval could open the path to activation. The XRP Ledger Foundation said it was not aware of any exploitation of these exceptions by outside parties. That makes this a set of proposed safeguards rather than the report of a confirmed attack on the ledger — a distinction that carries weight given the Binance incident. XRP was among the assets moved from Binance wallets, but reports did not identify it as the cause of the breach. The exchange attack and the ledger changes are separate matters.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?
Validator dependence is hardly theoretical. A different package, fixCleanup3_4_0, was reported on October 22 to have slipped to a November 4 activation after support briefly dipped below the required threshold, restarting the fourteen-day approval window. That package addresses a gap in token creation along with calculations for vault and lending functions; the separate credit system remained inactive. The delayed date belongs to that older package, not to today's proposals.
Also still under review is a Wednesday-reported change to account opening that would let sponsors cover the XRP reserve requirements for new accounts, so customers could set up wallets and begin stablecoin payments without first funding them with XRP themselves. The protocol amendment needed for that has not yet reached the required validator support.
Distribution Deals Are Not Demand
Ripple, meanwhile, announced a Wednesday partnership with Coinbase to broaden RLUSD availability, with support planned on the XRP Ledger, Base and Ethereum; Coinbase said availability would follow as institutional assurance. Such distribution arrangements are distinct from technical protocol approvals.

The same caution applies to a separate initiative: C2FO and Ripple said Tuesday they would bring financing and settlement activity for C2FO Instant Pay onto the network, using Ripple USD (RLUSD) for settlement. The project touches the ledger but designates a different token for settlement, so no direct additional demand for XRP is confirmed.
Taken together, the picture is nuanced. Fund demand has lately offered a counter-signal to the selloff, and network projects are widening the ledger's uses. Both remain separate from the immediate drag of the Binance incident — and from any confirmed demand for XRP itself. For the current ledger proposals, the next decisive steps are code adoption and the necessary validator sign-off; only then do planned features become live parts of the network.
