XRP Pushes Higher as Exchange Stockpiles Swell and ETF Demand Cools
Published on 10/20/2026 at 20:40 | Editorial boerse-global.deXRP traded at $1.33 on Friday, up 2.1% on the day, a modest advance that sits awkwardly beside a pair of supply-side signals suggesting the market may be carrying more tokens than it can readily absorb. Exchange inflows have climbed to their highest level since March, and U.S. spot XRP ETFs have just snapped a long run of net subscriptions. Neither development, on closer inspection, amounts to proof that holders are heading for the exits.
A 13-Week Streak Comes to an End
U.S. spot XRP funds recorded net redemptions of $1.84 million in the week through Friday, according to media reports, ending a stretch of 13 consecutive weeks of inflows. Cumulative net subscriptions still stand at roughly $1.80 billion. The reversal is a setback for fund demand, but it hardly signals a broad institutional retreat: Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs also bled assets over the same period, so the XRP figure cannot carry the whole explanation for the token's softness.
Exchange Wallets Fill Up
Separately, CryptoQuant data show inflows to crypto exchanges reaching 6.05 billion XRP in the 30 days through Thursday — the highest since March and double the level seen in mid-August. Reported exchange reserves, meanwhile, sit near the top of their yearly range. The two metrics track different things: inflows count transfers onto trading platforms, while reserves measure what is actually held there. A deposit is not a sell order, though a rising exchange balance does enlarge the pool of tokens available to trade. Whether that supply translates into price pressure depends on the demand standing opposite it.
That demand picture has a soft spot of its own. According to Darkfost, the 90-day rolling average of large XRP outflows from Binance has fallen to $49.7 million — a five-year low. The reading applies specifically to Binance rather than to XRP transfers as a whole, and it does not describe immediate selling. Set against the heavy exchange inflows, however, it sketches a cautious picture: more tokens are arriving on trading venues while large withdrawals from Binance stay comparatively small.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?
Leverage Unwinds After Liquidations
Speculative positioning has thinned in parallel. Open XRP contract volume on Binance fell 15.8% between Oct. 4 and Oct. 17, following a round of long liquidations. That contraction belongs to the derivatives market and should be kept apart from the rising spot balances on exchanges; the two do not combine into a single sell signal.
A Whale Transfer That Proves Little
A large transfer reported Friday likewise demands careful reading. Whale Alert flagged the movement of 82,314,668 XRP between an unknown wallet and a newly created address. The destination was not an identified exchange. The transaction establishes neither a sale nor a change of beneficial ownership — the tokens could simply be sitting at the new address as part of an internal custody reshuffle. Only a later onward transfer to a trading venue might hint at distribution to the market.
Product Rollouts Are Not the Same as Token Demand
Against this flow backdrop, Ripple's recent announcements deserve a distinction that headline counts tend to blur: which initiatives actually put XRP to work, and which mainly concern the RLUSD stablecoin or other services? Ripple Prime opened access to perpetual derivatives contracts on real-world assets for institutional clients on Thursday, covering more than 100 reference markets, with RLUSD explicitly named as eligible collateral and trading and settlement running around the clock. The buildout widens the institutional offering, but the announcement creates no direct XRP demand.
The Oct. 14 partnership with DriveWealth follows a similar pattern. RLUSD is slated for settlement on the XRP Ledger in Europe, with a U.S. expansion planned; no settlement role for XRP was mentioned. The technical link is tighter in the Privy integration, also announced Oct. 14. Privy's embedded wallet technology will let applications create wallets for transfers of XRP, RLUSD and other assets on the XRP Ledger — a genuine use case, though not yet evidence of additional XRP purchases.

What Would Actually Settle the Question
Media reports also noted that tracked exchange wallets added 83.94 million XRP between Oct. 13 and Oct. 15. Such movements matter for anyone watching supply, but custody balances are not the same as sell orders, and no confirmed selling pressure can be inferred from the increase alone. The same caution applies to the whale transfer: its destination belongs to no known exchange, so it does not sharpen the bearish case.
Taken together, the signals point in no single direction. Ripple keeps expanding institutional services and technical gateways, exchange stockpiles are growing, ETF demand has cooled after a long run, and the token is still climbing on the day. What ultimately matters for a durable valuation of XRP is whether any of this turns into real token usage and sustained capital inflows — not how many integrations get announced.
