XRP's Custody Breakthroughs Collide With a Demand Gap and a Binance Drain
Published on 11/07/2026 at 11:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deXRP traded at 1.18 USD on Friday, down 14% over 30 days, as a trio of forces shaped the token's outlook: a pause in ETF demand, a major outflow from Binance, and fresh institutional custody infrastructure from Ripple.
The US spot XRP ETFs, which have pulled in a cumulative 1.81 billion USD since launching in November 2025, posted zero net flows on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, according to media reports. That follows October inflows of 18.8 million USD. The stall leaves XRP without the capital channel that had been drawing in buyers, and any recovery now leans more heavily on purchases outside the fund complex. A return of positive daily net flows would be needed to signal fresh momentum — and it would have to last beyond a single session to count.
Binance Sees Largest XRP Withdrawal in Nine Months
Supply-side data offered a partial counterweight. CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost reported that 418.5 million XRP left Binance on Wednesday, worth roughly 540 million USD at the time of transfer — the largest single-day XRP outflow from the exchange in about nine months. If those tokens stay off the exchange, selling pressure on Binance could ease. Internal transfers remain an alternative explanation, so the move only counts as a genuinely tighter supply picture if the reduced availability persists and meets actual buyers.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?
Large holders are also drawing attention. Santiment data showed the number of wallets holding at least 1 million XRP reached 2,147 on Thursday, a yearly high. That supports the picture of a growing base of large addresses, though it gains weight as a recovery argument only if the new wallets coincide with sustained demand and a stabilizing price.
A Security Breach Adds to the Headwinds
Sentiment around XRP took a separate hit from a Binance security incident. Reuters reported Tuesday on the theft of 29 October, in which attackers stole 233.46 million XRP from five hot wallets and moved the tokens to an address they controlled within four minutes. According to the exchange's incident report cited by Reuters, the attack came through unauthorized access to an internal wallet-signing service. The named point of failure was Binance's internal infrastructure, putting custody security alongside demand as a focus for investors.
Custody Rails Widen Even as Fund Buying Stalls
On the supply side, institutional access is expanding. Ripple and BNY announced on 27 October an expanded collaboration under which BNY's Digital Asset Custody platform supports XRP and RLUSD for eligible institutional clients, with the two firms also planning to explore use cases for tokenized trade finance. A day earlier, Ripple reportedly received final approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish Ripple National Trust Bank, intended to support institutional custody and services around RLUSD reserves. These steps ease institutional access to custody, but their weight for XRP depends on how much clients actually use the offerings.
What a Confirmed Turnaround Would Require
For a confirmed trend reversal, Humphries requires stable daily closes above the 1.30 to 1.32 USD zone — a brief bounce alone would not meet his conditions for a more durable recovery. Demand remains the decisive test. Falling exchange balances can support XRP only if they meet real buying. Recurring ETF inflows and the chart confirmation Humphries demands would argue for a recovery; with fund purchases still absent and daily closes weak, the downside risk dominates.
