XRP's Ledger Surge and ETF Streak Obscure the Real Question: Where the Coins Actually Go
Published on 11/02/2026 at 19:01 | Editorial boerse-global.deA 479% jump in XRP moving across the ledger sounds like a demand signal. It isn't — at least not yet. The same caution applies to a seventh straight month of net inflows into US spot XRP ETFs, and to Ripple's latest escrow release. Each headline number describes movement or availability, not a confirmed sale.
What the wallet trail does and doesn't prove
Elliptic reports that the 233 million XRP stolen in the Binance breach were distributed across six new addresses. That redistribution is not evidence of a corresponding sale. Whale Alert separately flagged two transfers of 40 million XRP each out of a wallet tagged "Binance Hack 2026"; no exchange deposit or sale of those transfers has been confirmed.
Elliptic places these movements within the broader cleanup of the theft. In its assessment, only a negligible share of the stolen assets has been cashed out so far — a statement covering the entire hack, not a separate selling tally for XRP. The attack on Thursday drained $6.43 billion in assets, according to the firm. Roughly $3.24 billion remained in addresses tied to the theft, while about $2.85 billion was frozen or seized. The analysis describes automated money-laundering activity and sees no sign of decisions made by artificial intelligence.
Customer balances are covered — that's a separate matter
Binance began restoring withdrawals yesterday, saying around 95% of affected assets had been replaced by that point. XRP customer balances were fully covered. Two distinct facts sit side by side here: the exchange's customer coverage and the path of the stolen tokens. A refill at Binance says nothing about whether or when the attacker sells XRP; conversely, movement of the loot doesn't prove a new shortfall at the exchange.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?
A seven-month inflow streak, but thin momentum
October closed with $18.83 million in net inflows for US spot XRP ETFs, the seventh consecutive positive month, according to monthly statements published today. Demand stayed positive but came in weak by the products' historical standards. In the final week of October, the funds took in $4.32 million, lifting cumulative net inflows to $1.81 billion.
The aggregate masks divergence among issuers. Franklin Templeton and Canary recorded inflows in that last week, while redemptions outweighed buying at Bitwise. A single headline figure can therefore paper over differences between individual funds — the continued net inflows are a more reliable statement about the product category as a whole than about any one fund. Cumulative inflows and fund assets under management also measure different things: the former tracks net money movements to date and should not be conflated with the value of holdings.
Escrow release is not a sell order
On the supply side, Ripple released a scheduled 1 billion XRP from its escrow system yesterday, captured by Whale Alert as two transactions of 500 million XRP each. An unlock is not equivalent to a sale, nor does it by itself demonstrate a corresponding increase in tradable supply. What matters is how the tokens are subsequently used and whether they are re-locked.
XRP at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Reading the ledger correctly
Alongside the wallet news, reports point to a sharp rise in XRP Ledger activity: the amount transferred between accounts daily climbed above 1.33 billion XRP yesterday, up from roughly 229 million the day before — a gain of more than 479%. The metric measures the quantity of XRP moved, not the number of payments or users. Without transaction-level detail, the purpose and origin of those transfers remain unclear, and no link between the surge and the hacker wallets has been established, just as no sustained recovery in demand is proven.
For holders, the picture offers neither a clear all-clear nor a confirmed large-scale sell-off. What stands on solid ground so far is the wallet activity and the statements on balance coverage. Confirmed exchange inflows or actual sales — not the size of a single blockchain transfer — are what will settle the question.
