UBS has issued a significant upgrade for Wheaton Precious Metals, shifting its rating from "Neutral" to "Buy." The bank's analysts point to a compelling risk-reward profile and a growth pipeline they believe the market has overlooked. This move signals a belief that the current moment presents an ideal entry point for investors, contrasting with recent broader market hesitation.

Strong Fundamentals Underpin Optimistic Outlook

The company's record-breaking 2025 financial performance provides a solid foundation for this renewed confidence. Wheaton reported revenue of $2.31 billion and net earnings of $1.47 billion. A standout figure was the near-doubling of operating cash flow, which reached $1.9 billion. This financial strength is translating directly into shareholder returns, with the board announcing an 18% increase in the quarterly dividend to $0.195 per share.

For the current 2026 fiscal year, management is targeting production of 860,000 to 940,000 gold equivalent ounces (GEOs). This range would represent an approximate 30% increase year-over-year. A key driver of this growth is the major expansion of the silver streaming agreement at the Antamina mine in Peru, a $4.3 billion project developed in partnership with BHP. The company's long-term vision extends to reaching 1.2 million GEOs by 2030, supported by new projects including Blackwater and Platreef.

Revised Price Target and Earnings Estimates Highlight Potential

In conjunction with the rating upgrade, UBS raised its price target for Wheaton Precious Metals to $160 USD. The analysts emphasized the firm's organic growth potential and its low-risk streaming business model as primary reasons for their bullish stance.

This positive sentiment is echoed by other research firms. Zacks Research has increased its earnings per share (EPS) estimate for fiscal year 2026 to $3.33, up from a previous forecast of $3.25. The market reacted swiftly to the UBS upgrade, with shares closing last Friday at €108.60, marking a gain of over four percent.

The bullish case appears to have broad support on Wall Street. Among 16 analysts covering the stock, 14 currently recommend a "Buy," underscoring widespread confidence in the company's strategic direction.

Following a softer performance last month, Wheaton Precious Metals is demonstrating renewed momentum. The powerful combination of record cash flows, an enhanced dividend policy, and an ambitious multi-year production expansion plan through 2030 is providing compelling arguments for bullish investors. Shareholders of record on Tuesday, March 31, will be eligible for the upcoming increased dividend payment in April.
