Despite kicking off a million-dollar drilling campaign at its Sheppard Lake uranium project, Bedford Metals finds itself wrestling with a share price that has shed more than half its value over the past twelve months. The junior explorer closed a private placement in April 2026 that raised gross proceeds of C$1 million through the issuance of five million flow-through shares at C$0.20 apiece. An additional 500,000 shares were issued as a finder’s fee, and all securities are subject to a hold period until mid-August. That capital is now funding up to 2,000 metres of diamond drilling at the company’s top priority targets.

The drill rigs started turning on the heels of Phase?3 winter programme results that the company released in early May. That work comprised three radiometric surveys, prospecting, and 298.5 metres of diamond drilling. A total of 92 rock samples were sent to the SRC Geoanalytical Laboratory in Saskatoon. The assays delivered peak readings of 4,114 counts per second (CPS) and 0.032% uranium in Zone TZ?1, while Zone TZ?2 returned up to 2,350 CPS and 0.016% uranium. Elevated boron values were recorded in both zones — an important pathfinder element in the Athabasca region, where boron anomalies often signal deeper uranium mineralisation.

Bedford’s geologists view the combination of strong radiometric responses, boron enrichment, and proximity to structural faults at the southern edge of the Athabasca Basin as a clear indication of a potentially significant system. The company has already begun the 2026 drill programme, focusing on TZ?1, TZ?2, and the Warr Lake zone. A newly identified silica?cap zone is also being followed up with a high?resolution magnetometer survey and backpack drilling.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Bedford Metals?

On the market, however, the operational progress has failed to lift sentiment. Bedford’s shares closed at €0.09 on Friday, just above a 52?week low of €0.08 and a far cry from the twelve?month high of €0.29. The stock has lost more than 52% over the past year and recently touched an all?time low. The relative strength index (RSI) sits at 28, signalling deeply oversold conditions, yet the equity trades below all of its moving averages.

The explorer’s balance sheet reflects its early?stage status. Total assets stand at roughly C$5.8 million, while the company reported a net loss of about C$1.49 million and a negative EBITDA of C$1.13 million. Nearly 99.8% of outstanding shares are in free float, and institutional investors are effectively absent — a setup that leaves the stock acutely vulnerable to short?term swings in sentiment.

Beyond Sheppard Lake, Bedford holds the Close Lake project, which neighbours claims operated by uranium heavyweight Cameco. That asset offers a potential second catalyst, but for now the market’s attention is trained on the ongoing drill programme. The company’s broader project package at Sheppard Lake covers 13,092 hectares and includes the Cable Lake claims, where more than 22 kilometres of electromagnetic anomalies sit within relative magnetic lows — a geophysical signature often tied to uranium deposits in this part of the Athabasca Basin.

With no new assay results expected until the current programme is completed, Bedford’s share price is likely to remain sensitive to broader moves in the uranium market. The next batch of laboratory data from TZ?1, TZ?2, and Warr Lake will deliver the hard numbers the market needs to judge whether the anomalies uncovered so far translate into a drill?ready discovery.
