Björk’s Icelandic art pop meets choral reworking
Björk’s official Bandcamp profile describes her as an Icelandic singer, songwriter, producer, actress and DJ. It lists electronica, pop, experimental, classical, trip hop, IDM and avant-garde music among her styles.
The new release connects those electronic and vocal strands to a choir-led arrangement, while retaining her own catalogue as its material. The store identifies Þorgerður Ingólfsdóttir as conductor and Bergur Þórisson as musical director.
The 11-song release maps voices across Björk’s catalogue
The official track list contains 11 songs, including show me forgiveness, hidden place, cosmogony and where is the line. The listing also includes unravel, who is it and new world, giving the release a broad sweep across the catalogue.
BroadwayWorld’s account describes a meeting of choral arrangements, electronics and Björk’s voice. The release description credits the choir alongside Björk and foregrounds the changing shape of her compositions.
