Duran Duran release the physical edition of Free To Love: Hot Star Remixes on 30 October 2026. The package marks the band’s first remix album made available on vinyl and CD.
Duran Duran’s dance-pop catalogue meets physical formats
The release brings the group’s recent Free To Love project into three physical editions: CD, single vinyl and special-edition vinyl. Each format uses a different metallic ink and carries an original cover photograph by Duran Duran co-founder and keyboardist Nick Rhodes.
The CD and single-vinyl editions include an eight-page booklet featuring more of Rhodes’ images. The special edition adds two double-height fold-out booklets attached to its gatefold packaging. Details of the physical release formats were announced in October.
Duran Duran’s Birmingham roots inform the new package
Duran Duran emerged from Birmingham’s late-1970s music scene, with Nick Rhodes and John Taylor among the musicians who established the band. Their sound has been described through pop-rock, new wave, synth-pop and dance-rock, styles that connect naturally with a remix collection built around a dance-oriented single.
The band’s official timeline records the early formation and line-up changes that shaped Duran Duran before the group developed its recognisable combination of synthesizers, bass, guitar and prominent vocals. That history places the new edition within a catalogue that has repeatedly moved between polished pop, rock instrumentation and club-focused production, as shown by the official formation timeline.
Free To Love brings new versions to every physical format
The standard CD gathers every remix released digitally, the original Free To Love single and two new reworkings by the band. Those additions are titled Love Overture and Across the Galaxy, giving the physical edition material that is not presented as part of the existing remix sequence alone.
The 12-inch vinyl contains 10 original remixes alongside Duran Duran’s own versions of Love Overture and Across the Galaxy. The special package combines 12-inch and 7-inch vinyl, extending the same project across multiple physical formats while retaining its remix-album identity.
