A festival announcement describes the award as recognition for artists, producers and sound engineers who reshape recorded sound. It says Pop is being honoured for his expressive work and studio collaborations. Placed beside the festival’s workshops and production sessions, the ceremony connects Pop’s performance history with an award centred on recorded sound.

Iggy Pop’s punk work fits the award’s remit

Record of the Day’s festival announcement identifies Pop as the lead singer of The Stooges, whose work helped define the raw sound of punk rock. His solo career developed that foundation through songs and collaborations with other artists.

That two-part career matters to the honour’s wording: it recognises both the artist’s recorded work and his influence on studio practice. Soundedit lists Pop with Ziemowit Kosmowski and Bogdan Kondracki among the award winners. The programme presents a shared production focus across different musical careers.

Soundedit combines the award with a wider music programme

Soundedit’s programme combines the award ceremony with concerts, workshops, industry training, lectures and sessions on music production and audio technology. The event therefore places a formal honour beside live and educational activity.

On 25 October 2026, the Golden Ear ceremony formed part of the festival’s programme. The official listing placed it at 20:35 in Hall IV.
