Sean Paul’s dancehall catalogue behind the Durban date
Sean Paul was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and his official biography identifies him as a dancehall deejay. His international breakthrough centred on Dutty Rock, the album that carried Gimme the Light and Get Busy to a global audience. The Sean Paul biography also traces his movement between dancehall, reggae, pop, EDM and Latin collaborations.
Dutty Rock won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. The Recording Academy’s Grammy profile lists that win alongside later nominations for albums including The Trinity, Imperial Blaze, Tomahawk Technique, Full Frequency, Live n Livin and Scorcha. That catalogue places the Durban finale within a performance run led by the Jamaican artist’s established dancehall sound, while leaving room for his broader pop and hip-hop influences.
