Nyhavn hosts Kejserinden at Bådteatret from 24 October 2026, giving visitors to Copenhagen a new theatre production at the historic waterfront. The venue is listed at Nyhavn 16Z in the Danish capital.
The premiere is scheduled for 24 October 2026, inside the current reporting period. The production remains listed for performances through November, including a performance on 20 November 2026, according to the theatre's current programme.
Kejserinden begins at Bådteatret on 24 October
Kejserinden is presented as a story about paternal love and madness. The production uses animation and newly composed live music, with four male actors on stage.
The show is based on Selma Lagerlöf's novel The Emperor of Portugallia. Bådteatret's programme also lists the production under the longer Danish title Kejserinden - en fejring af galskabens skønhed. The current theatre programme identifies both the venue and the scheduled dates.
Nyhavn connects the production with Copenhagen's harbour
The performance takes place at Bådteatret, whose listed address is Nyhavn 16Z, 1051 Copenhagen K. This makes the quay itself the venue reference rather than a nearby attraction or city-wide event.
That setting gives the production a direct link with one of Copenhagen's best-known waterfront streets. The theatre's address places the animated stage work among the canal-side buildings and working harbour history associated with Nyhavn.
The production's combination of animation and live music also connects the intimate theatre setting with a form that can present literary material without relying on a conventional realistic set. Its four-person cast is another concrete feature visitors can expect at the venue.
