Siwa Oasis hosts dates festival from 14 to 16 October

Siwa Oasis hosts the ninth International Egyptian Dates Festival in Siwa, Egypt, from 14 to 16 October 2026. The three-day programme links the oasis's agricultural economy with seminars, workshops, competitions and displays of date-growing and processing technology.

Siwa Oasis prepares for the October dates festival

The festival is scheduled for 14 to 16 October 2026, placing its main programme inside the current autumn travel period. The event is presented as an international gathering for date farmers, producers, manufacturers, exporters, researchers and specialists from across Egypt.

A preparation meeting in Siwa brought together Matrouh Governorate officials, the head of Siwa city and executive departments involved in the event. The festival is being organised with the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, Egypt's Ministry of Industry and research bodies, giving the programme an institutional link beyond a seasonal market. Festival preparations in Siwa were inspected before the opening period.

The programme includes scientific seminars and practical workshops, alongside competitions and presentations of modern services, techniques and solutions for cultivation, production, packaging and export. It therefore brings professional activity into the oasis while giving visitors a fixed event to encounter during the three October dates.

The dates programme reflects Siwa's agricultural role

The event is closely tied to the production of dates in Siwa. Reports describe displays of products from Egyptian governorates and participation by date-producing countries, as well as exchanges between farmers, manufacturers, exporters, scientists and other specialists.

The connection between the festival and the place is visible in its preparation sites. Officials inspected Siwa Olympic Village, an event venue, and visited a date-drying and packaging factory and a factory at the entrance to the city. That route connects the public programme with the cultivation, processing and added-value industries that the festival is designed to support. Details of the festival venue identify the Olympic Village as the area receiving particular preparation.

For the oasis, the October event is more than a display of finished produce. Its stated aims include improving quality, sharing production knowledge and widening local and international marketing opportunities. Those aims explain why the programme combines public-facing displays with technical sessions and competitions.

What the October programme adds for visitors

The dates festival gives a visit to Siwa a specific cultural and agricultural focus during 14 to 16 October 2026. The programme centres on dates, palm cultivation, processing and exchange rather than on a separate entertainment season.
