Safety Training and Digital Tools Expand Across Industries

Professional safety organisations and regional government bodies have introduced a wave of new training initiatives, digital assessment tools, and corporate expansions this week, signalling a growing focus on addressing evolving industrial risks and workplace health requirements.

Acquisitions Strengthen Industrial Hygiene Capabilities

Examinetics announced on 21 July 2026 that it had acquired Progressive Safety and Jurgiel & Associates — the company's fourth and fifth acquisitions in 18 months. The purchases are designed to bolster its specialised industrial hygiene and safety consulting capacity.

Progressive Safety delivers national safety services for large-scale projects, while Jurgiel & Associates, established in 1978, brings deep expertise in occupational hygiene. Following the additions, Examinetics' safety consulting division now employs more than 50 technicians.

Asia Expands Hazardous Chemical and Digital Safety Training

The Korea Environment Corporation announced on 21 July that it is scaling its hazardous chemical safety training to a nationwide programme. The organisation, which opened training centres in Seoul, Daegu, and Gwangju in 2025, was the first public institution approved to deliver this specialised instruction. The expansion builds on a programme launched in August 2025 that provides support packages and on-site visits for small enterprises.

In Malaysia, the MEF-ILO OSH Digital Assessment Tool was launched on 21 July to help employers conduct systematic occupational safety and health assessments. Supported by the EU-funded PROTECT project, the tool was introduced during a training session in Port Klang attended by more than 80 employers. The Malaysian Employers Federation said the digital resource is designed to support continuous learning and systematic risk management.

In Vietnam, the Cao Bang Department of Internal Affairs held a conference on 21 July to brief local businesses on safety policies. Around 90 trainees from 11 enterprises received instruction on the Law on Occupational Safety and Health, risk assessment protocols, accident reporting procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment.

Heat Illness Prevention and Migrant Worker Safety

Regional organisations also focused on specific environmental and migration risks. On 20 July, the Dong-A Socio Group launched a public-private campaign in Seoul aimed at preventing heat-related illnesses. Supported by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA), the programme trained employees from group subsidiaries on temperature monitoring, stress index management, and the use of electrolyte beverages.

On the same day, the Bihar State Overseas Employment Bureau in India conducted instructor training on safe migration and workers' rights. Sessions covered foreign labour laws and the use of the e-Migrant portal, designed to reduce fraud and exploitation among workers seeking employment abroad.

High-Altitude Rescue and Upcoming Industry Webinar

Emergency responders in Wilmington, Illinois, rescued a worker who became stranded atop a 130-foot gas station sign on 21 July. The fire department used an aerial ladder to reach the individual, who remained conscious throughout the multi-hour ordeal. The incident has renewed discussion on fall protection requirements for high-altitude maintenance tasks.

Industry leaders are scheduled to address the gap between corporate safety slogans and operational reality in a webinar on 12 August 2026. Led by EHS specialist Davenj Bradley, the session will focus on improving training records and tackling unreported near-miss incidents. Separately, the Legal & Liability Risk Management Institute recently concluded seminars on cellular technology certification in Texas and training for jail supervisors in Indiana.
